[Re]Building Dayton: A Month of Impact and Community Transformation

Each year on the last Saturday in April, National Rebuilding Day brings together hundreds of volunteers to repair homes, restore community spaces, and revitalize Dayton neighborhoods. Our dedicated staff works hand-in-hand with volunteers to support the rehabilitation of dozens of homes and multiple community facilities throughout the region.

No two projects are the same. Each work site tells its own story—shaped by the families who live there, the community it serves, and the specific repairs needed. From yard cleanups and exterior painting to skilled tasks like plumbing, window replacements, electrical updates, and flooring repairs, our teams tackle a wide range of essential improvements.

We don’t limit this energy to one day. Throughout the year, we celebrate neighbors helping neighbors with projects, engaging volunteers from all walks of life—corporate teams, civic groups, faith communities, and individuals—who roll up their sleeves to make a difference.

Behind the scenes, months of planning, training, and coordination go into every detail. The result? A safe, meaningful volunteer experience—and a powerful, lasting impact on the lives of the homeowners and neighborhoods we serve.

Whether you're wielding a paintbrush or sponsoring a team, you're helping build stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.
